What’s in a Connection?

every person to have touched our lives in a significant way

becomes a part of who we are

we take their puzzle piece

and add it to

the mosaic that is Ourselves

through time

————— effort

———————- emotion

we slowly craft a final picture

that lasts after this lifetime is complete

sometimes

those who affect our life in a significant way leave again quickly

with their affect on us leaving a crater with the softest touch

sometimes

those we spend the most time around might not make as much of an impact

they lack the meaningful connection to cause change

sometimes

those who make the most impact had no idea

and others they very much did know

——————————-but it wasn’t with the best of intentions

ultimately, it is up to us where we place these pieces gifted by other people

we can choose to add or subtract pieces if it no longer serves the greater picture

even if some seemed glued down and take significant effort to pry off the page

sometimes

even though those who affected us the most still breathe the same world air

we no longer speak
