The Tree

The tree with her dance does bend and sway

She wonders why water is so far away

So, she unearths her roots and goes on a search

For things that can only be found on brand new Earth

Her roots turn to legs

Her trunk to a torso

Her leaves to hair

Her bark no more so

She becomes a mutant monkey being

In her search for new meaning

She doesn’t realize what she’s leaving behind

She doesn’t realize she won’t be back this time

Not in the same form

Not in the same way

It’ll always be a new search

It’ll always be a different day

She will die with each new decision she makes

Becoming a walking corpse of memories

And yet she’s never felt so alive

But only so long as she doesn’t forget

Where her roots used to lie

Deep in the forest away from “humanity”.
