A house is not a home

Without little footprints throughout

These footprints track in dirt

But they chase away the doubt

These footprints may have claws

Little scales or toes

These footprints will get bigger with time

But that’s just how life goes

And when the little footprints

One day do not walk through the door

Babies those little footprints

Do not belong too anymore

But all the dirt and mud

And tears and blood

Inside those little footprints brought

Will for a long long while

Bring a tiny laugh and smile

When they are again of thought.

A house is not a home without little footprints
