Happy Easter everyone! Please enjoy this poem, Rebirth, in celebration of today.

we’re given one chance
when we are born
one life to live
one life to thorn
forth onto the
tree of life

The Bodhi Tree
12 Holy Nights

every sin we carry
as tar on our souls
every burden we bear
we bear for all
eternity as
we’ve only got one
chance to live life under the Sun

but the term rebirth
is an ancient theme
an ancient motion
from an ancient dream

the chance to blunder
and yet once again rise
the chance to make mistakes
and then gouge out your eyes

rebirth comes with a cost
it’s not for free
sacrifice your soul
spike yourself to a tree

because even in the fire
from which the phoenix bursts forth
the feathers are singed
the color of fire’s force

rebirth takes intention
it takes blood
it takes true effort
it takes true Love

in one version He died for our sins
in another to see it he gave an eye
in yet another he crawled from his fathers belly and now rules a cloudy throne in the sky

keeping order with his brothers
the others that know
rebirth is a sacred thing
not something to sell

as we are born into blood
so again we shall return
curled up fetal inside the fertile Earth
giving back the energy of which we borrowed
giving nutrients to the roots of trees of tomorrow
everything circles
everything cycles
everything returns to the original words
told by disciples

so conserve your energy
and then in one final burst
sacrifice what you have to
to have your own rebirth

Rise Again
