Whiskey and Wine

she wants to drink a little whiskey
and stain her lips with a little bit of wine
but not for the way alcohol affects her mind
but instead what it stands for
what it represents
a strong grown woman away from innocence
she wants a smoking gun in her hand
and a crystal glass to her lips
blowing away that which tries to take her bliss
putting death to her demons
with ice on her tongue
the sting of strong whiskey telling her shes won
she wants to be in a long flowing dress
dancing underneath the stars
a wine glass in her hand
and her love playing some guitar
sweet sultry words drip from her wine stained lips
the feeling of the night carrying a whisp-
er of what it used to be
to be truly free
a young girl who once was barefoot and fancy-free
before the bits of pain
and before the bits of loss
before the marks and scars tried to finish her off
so she wants to drink a little bit of whiskey
and stain her lips with a little bit of wine
not for the effect but to represent the passage of time
a smoking gun in her hand
a wine glass held to the sky
both sides of her personality after the fight
a little bit of tipsy to make her feel alright
something to make the stars a little brighter throughout the night
