Shifting Atmosphere

Sunlight filtering through window with snow on evergreen branches outside.

Shifting Atmosphere
By E. Lexi Abbott

The window was opened.
The sunshine is streaming in.
You take a deep breath,
and the world starts to spin.
That fresh air you needed,
that calm and that hope,
suddenly surrounds you,
like a badly written trope.
But the moment is fleeting,
and the clouds come back.
The sunshine wanes,
and its illumination you again lack.
But you have a realization.
You just need to go outside.
Shift your perspective.
Stop replaying goodbyes.
The sunshine is constant, it is our atmosphere that is not.
